Flat file definition
The Flat File Specification consists of three fixed length ASCII text files, Clients, Immunizations and Comments with a Record Identifier which ties the three together.
file descriptions
client file, immunization file, and sometimes a comment file
- these files contain the information for the clients that have been updated since the last batch upload.
- For example: If the last batch upload was on March 12th, and Jimmy Smith received a shot that was added using the browser on March 15th, then if the next batch upload occurred on March 18th, Jimmy Smith would show up in the client, immunization and comment files.
-These files are only for bidirection or Wir2Provider transfers.
There is a single file which acts similarly for HL7.
There is also a RESPONSE file which is used for bidirectional and Provider2Wir transfers.
- this response file tells information about all of the clients that were in the batch that was just processed.
- how many clients were added to the database
- how many clients were rejected, and why
-how many immunizations were added or rejected, and why
- and same for the comments, if there are any
